Kasaragod Trip with a group of FRIENDS

Kasaragod is a district headquarter of Kasaragod district in Kerala. We organized a 2 days Departmental Trip to Kasaragod, however I was not in organizing committee. We visited Kasaragod on the weekend of 22-23 Feb 2014. We hired a 50 seater bus for the journey and left the institute on Friday night. We reached Kasaragod in the morning around 10AM.

The arrangements of night stay and breakfast was already done by organizing committee. We stayed at Speedway Inn near Govt. Bus Stand. It was nice and decent hotel with affordable rent. We take bath and got ready within one hour and went for the breakfast in the same building(Indian Coffee House).

After breakfast we get into our bus and went to the Sri Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Temple(Ananthapura Lake Temple). It is very old temple, and men should remove their shirt and vest to visit the temple. It is very beautiful temple and situated inside the lake. It is around 15KM from bus stand.

There is an old pond in Temple area and people claimed to see a crocodile there but I was not the fortunate one to see and capture. We stayed there for over an hour and come back for Lunch.

After lunch we went to visit Bekal Fort in Pallikere. It is also around 15KM from bus stand but in the opposite direction(south) to the Temple.  This fort is very old and very well maintained. You will witness some very beautiful and pleasant scenery there. The view of Bekal beach from the fort is breathtaking.

While returning back from Bekal Fort, we went to Kapil Beach to enjoy Sunset. It was on the way to our hotel and near to Bekal Fort only.

After Kapil Beach visit, we returned to hotel. Next day we checked out from the hotel in the morning at 8 o'clock.

We went to Malik Dinar Mosque.

After the Mosque, we moved towards Ranipuram Hills. on the way we stopped and visited a place, which was surrounded by old walls and the view was awesome.

We had lunch on the way and went to Ranipuram Hills. It is a National Park and situated near the border of Karnataka. There was a route for trekking and was around 2 KM in distance. The trekk was very steep but the view from the top was amazing. It was surrounded by very dense jungle.

It was a nice trekk to sweat out. After the trekk we took the highway and headed towards Bangalore. We took the route via Coorg.

During the trip I captured some nice pics. I am adding them here.

KANNUR: Visit for Asia's longest Driving Beach

KANNUR is the place for them who like beaches and driving a lot and you can enjoy both of them here at the same time. Kannur is known for it driving beach and it is Asia's longest(about 7 KM) driving beach.

First thing first:
Kannur is located at the north coastal line of Kerala, India. It is a district headquarter.

All the information about location, how to reach is here. Now where to stay? There is nice and decent hotel near Central Bus Stand, Broad Bean Hotel, Kannur. We stayed here. Refer pics below for hotel. It is really very good if you are going there as a couple for honeymoon or just for a good holiday. Its range starts from Rs 1200. But there are a lot of lodges and budget hotels in the market. You can get as cheap as 150 per person in a lodge.

This hotel has nice rooms with a lot of space and clean washroom and AC.

The Dining Hall was good and decent and staff was well behaved and breakfast was complementary.

When to Visit:
The best time to visit Kannur is from October to March. other then that it will be very hot and humid and you will not be able to enjoy your holidays.

How to Visit:
If you have taken your own vehicle then its the best thing, otherwise you can hire auto but they are very costly or take city bus for long rides.

Places to visit in Kannur:
Well there are not a lot of places to visit here but you can enjoy a lot on beaches with driving and swimming.
1. Payyambalam Beach: It is near the town only and very popular among locals. You will find a lot of people playing volleyball in the evening. Visit in the morning and evening for Sunset.

2. St. Angelo Fort: It was built in 1505 AD and also known as Old Fort among locals.

3. Muzhappilanghad Beach: It is about 15 KM from Kannur on the way to Thalassery. It is 7 KM from Thalassery. The best part about it is, its a Driving beach. You can enjoy a lot of ride here. The sunset is very beautiful.

Thats all we have visited here. If you are living nearby or in Bangalore , Mysore, then you can drive here and enjoy the beaches.
